I recently finished my book on Joomla 1.5 SEO by Packt Publishing, you know the company behind several great Joomla Books and of course the Open Source CMS Awards.
One chapter in the book is about Joomla! Blogging and RSS Feeds. This chapter is now made free for you to download!
Use this link Joomla! Blogging and RSS Feeds to get download the PDF file.
Here is a Summary of Chapter 5:
- Why blogging is good for your Search Engine Optimization strategy
- How to set up a blog section in Joomla! and how to build a blogging menu and RSS Feed
- Why the use of comments and interaction with your visitors is important, and how you can handle spam and comments by the integration of Disqus
- The use of RSS Feeds and how to improve your Joomla! RSS Feed, using the Google FeedBurner service
- How to claim your blog on Technorati, and a short introduction of the commercial blog component MyBlog from www.azrul.com
I hope this free chapter will give you even more insight in the possibilities of Blogging with Joomla.
P.s. And if you want to buy the book after finding this chapter useful, I won’t hold it against you…

blog is very important for website and this chapter provides in depth knowledge about blogging and rss feed thanks.
Joomla is a really excellent CMS for blogging.
Thank’s for this post.
I prefer using Joomla!, escpecially because of blogging features, but not only these ones.
what i find useful in Joomla! is the possibility to use it and learn it meanwhile, so you don’t have to possess very deep knowledge in this area just to start.
This is a great post, I really like this article, I am working in Joomla from its primary release, I own a PSD to Joomla template development company – http://www.joomlaexpert.info
I will keep revisit this blog.
Seems the link is no longer working … would like to see this article, can you provide the right link?
@villainumbria: Packt has changed the site layout and some URLs, The link is now working again so you check the sample chapter.
Really informative read. Disqus looks like an excellent component, and looks to really add to the core Joomla blogging functionality. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like you know and love Joomla like I do. Http://yourwebpros.net appreciates blog writers and articles such as yours. keep us the good work!

I think you forgot about the latest blogging component for Joomla! by Stackideas.com. They did a good job for creating a blog component for Joomla! called EasyBlog. A bit pricey but their support are awsomely fast, i heard. Some of my friends who are developers said Easyblog is easy to configure and the support is great. Can you write a review about them for all of us here? Maybe you can judge for us.
I downloaded the freebie and I have to say that your book is officially on my to-read list. I haven’t tested myBlog yet but I am already a fan of azrul’s JomSocial component.
Keep writing!
