Joomla SEF Components Update

Steve Burge over at www.alledia.com (great Joomla SEO Blog, highly recommended) does a quick update on the status of the mayor Joomla SEF components

Most Interesting and schocking to me was the fact that the site of OpenSef at http://j-prosolution.com/ has been taken off site….
Luckily the component has been rescued by Chris Davenport and is now available as NuSEF

I am currently looking at the sh404SEF on my new site and must admit it is indeed looking great, you can also read Steve’s Review of the sh404SEF component.

About the sh404SEF. It is simply great. But it adds an extra “index.php” in the URL. Can You suggest me to do something to avoid it?

    • Hello Rezwan,

Switch on the “advanced view” in your configuration screen and then look for the configuration setting “use without .htaccess” (depending on the version you run I thin kits on page two) and chang it to use with .htaccess.

Then make sure thet your .htaccess file contains the right code (its in included in the documentation of sh404SEF in the configuration panel)

This option only works on Apache based webhosting accounts wiht mod_rewirte enabled (about 90% of the hosting will be fine).
On a windows based hosting, you cannot get rid of hte index.php that easy.
